Alex Hawea graduated with a Bachelor of Māori Development majoring in Māori Development.
"I chose to study Māori Development because I was passionate about it. The degree allowed me to learn a broad range of transferable skills which has meant that I have more to offer in the workplace.
I studied social and youth development which has helped me as a sports tutor. My job focuses on youth, using sports as a hook to attain higher education and sports advancement. I would encourage people to study Māori Development who have a passion for not only te ao Māori (the Māori world), but also te ao katoa."
