Te Reo Māori

Te Reo MāoriAUT is committed to the teaching and learning of te reo Māori.Te Whanake Māori language learning plugs into the future...

Our unique and innovative style of learning is profiled on the Apple website.

Using the Te Whanake resources developed by Professor John Moorfield, Māori language teaching and learning has been enhanced by digital technology at AUT.

Wānanga and interactive classes (kanohi kitea) and digital technology create a nexus between the past, present and future.

Self directed learning is strengthened by the digital platform. Students can:

  • download homework as podcasts onto PC or iPOD
  • watch animated movies and complete tutorial exercises online
  • access a comprehensive online dictionary with new entries and images being added daily

By making this material so accessible, students not only improve their Māori language skills but become digitally literate at the same time.

So come join us in the classroom and we'll give you the necessary reo and digital skills to help carry our taonga (language) into the future.
