Students studying with Te Ara Poutama can apply for the following tuition fee scholarships:

• John Tapiata Scholarship established in 1992 to acknowledge the contribution of John Tapiata as the first Tumuaki of Te Ara Poutama and his passion for excellence and Te Reo Māori.
• Mavis Tuoro Scholarship established in 1998 to acknowledge the contribution of Mavis Tuoro to Te Ara Poutama. The scholarship is to encourage Māori scholarship in English or Te Reo Māori.
• Peter Harwood Scholarship in Community Leadership and Excellence to reward leadership qualities and academic excellence. To encourage and support students to pursue tertiary education in the area of Māori Development.
