AUT students learn away from the classroom by undertaking a work placement. This gives them the opportunity to implement their newly gained knowledge and learn more about career options. Students spend one semester with an organisation undertaking ongoing work or a project that is related to one of their majors. This provides an opportunity for students to critically reflect on the relationship between their studies, business practice and their learning as business professionals. Payment for work undertaken during the co-op is negotiated between the student and the organisation. Most students are paid during their co-op placement. Students find their co-op work experiences are invaluable in rounding off their academic study and prepare them well for their professional careers. |
