The health and physical education major in the Bachelor of Sport and Recreation is designed to be the best possible preparation for anyone seeking a career in health and physical education teaching. This major focuses on the integration of hauora, health promotion and the socio-ecological aspects that underpin the philosophy of health and physical education in New Zealand schools.
The major is not a stand alone teaching qualification. After completing the 3 year BSR in health and physical education, you may choose to continue with AUT’s one year Graduate Diploma in Secondary Teaching (subject to meeting entry criteria).
