AUT's Personal Training Certificate qualifies you to work as a personal trainer and fitness instructor. The Personal Training Certificate will provide you with the knowledge and practical skills to help individual clients reach their personal health, fitness and exercise goals.

AUT graduates are highly sought after for their expert knowledge and skills, with many finding employment within the fitness industry in numerous gyms, recreation and community centres throughout NZ and overseas.
The Certificate focuses on weight training in a gym environment - therefore we highly recommend that you are an active gym member so you can put into practice what you are learning.Students are given access to the AUT University Sport and Fitness Centres during their enrolment in each Certificate in Personal Training paper (from the start date to the assessment date). This will help you turn your theory into practical learning. Conditions apply*.
When you have successfully completed Fitness Foundations, Prescription for Exercise and Fitness Assessment and Counselling, you will be awarded the AUT University Certificate in Fitness Instruction.
When you have successfully completed all 4 of the above papers you will receive the AUT University Certificate in Personal Training.

Primarily for Pacific workers, this course is also open to anyone working with Pacific communities. This 'train the trainer' nutrition course will benefit those already working in the community who are able to train, advise and support others in making healthy food choices.
