
Millennium Institute of Sport and Health (MISH)
Since 2002 AUT has had a close relationship with New Zealand’s only high performance sports institute, the Millennium Institute of Sports & Health on Auckland’s North Shore. The two organisations work together to allow student-athletes to gain hands-on experience and train in a world-class facility.
AUT’s research institute ‘The Institute of Sport and Recreation Research New Zealand’ has postgraduate facilities at MISH: The Sport Performance Research Centre.
Sport and Recreation New Zealand (SPARC)
SPARC are dedicated to getting New Zealanders moving. That means everything from supporting elite athletes to getting out into local communities and encouraging people to get active.
SPARC provides research funding on a number of research initiatives with AUT’s Institute of Sport and Recreation Research New Zealand.
New Zealand Academy of Sport (NZAS)
The NZAS North is an incorporated society made up of four consortium partners, including AUT. NZAS North is committed to providing world-class sport science, sports medicine, career and education services to New Zealand elite level athletes and coaches.
AUT and Harbour Sport have a co-operative relationship centered around enhancing student training and the provision of various community projects.
AUT and the YMCA (Auckland) have a partnership to develop and run activity programmes provide students with employment opportunities and combat many of the health and fitness issues facing communities. The YMCA is Auckland’s largest provider of fitness and community based activity with 10 fitness clubs, four pools and eight community sports and recreation facilities. An example of our collaboration is the Never2Old programme.
