ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

  • To be admitted to a one-year bachelors degree with honours, applicants shall have completed an undergraduate degree with a minimum of a B average in the relevant field of study over 75 points at Level 7 from a New Zealand university or equivalent


High achieving undergraduate students have the opportunity to enter a one year honours degree. This degree can provide accelerated entry into doctoral study or enhance practice or employment opportunities.

Potential students will be identified during the third year of the Bachelor of Science. At this point they will be encouraged to gain the necessary entry requirements during their study. If students achieve these criteria they will be eligible to enter the Bachelor of Science (Honours) on completion of the Bachelor of Science.


WHAT THIS QUALIFICATION COVERS

This degree covers the research process, the acquisition of knowledge and skills, and conducting and reporting research studies in areas such as food science, earth and oceanic sciences, applied chemistry, applied microbiology, molecular genetics or biotechnology. A dissertation and research methods paper are undertaken together with 45 points from the approved papers.
