ENTRY REQUIREMENTS


The Master of Philosophy (MPhil) is a one year research only masters degree. It provides an opportunity for students to undertake a research topic of an applied or professional nature, under the supervision of Law School staff.

Alternatively, the MPhil can provide a pathway to more advanced research at doctoral level.


WHAT THIS QUALIFICATION COVERS

Students will complete an original thesis during this year of study.  Law School staff are available to supervise MPhil research on a wide range of topics.  The Law School has extensive research capabilities in the following areas:

  • Information technology
  • Intellectual property
  • Law and communications
  • Privacy law
  • Resource management law
  • Securities law
  • Taxation


CAREER OPPORTUNITIES

It is expected that graduates with a Master of Philosophy will have gained the necessary skills and qualifications to follow an academic or research career leading to a PhD. Alternatively, their research topic may lead them to a position of expertise in their chosen field.
