Learn Spanish as a minor or elective

Sagrada Familia - Gaudi enduring masterpiece in Barcelona.
Spanish is the second most widely spoken language in the world after English, therefore, learning Spanish will give you a clear advantage in a competitive job market and an increasingly global world.

At AUT, students are taught by native Spanish speakers and therefore get to experience Spanish culture firsthand.

Beginner and Intermediate level classes are offered.

Spanish as a minor or an elective allows students with little or no previous knowledge of Spanish to acquire competency in both written and oral Spanish.

During the initial papers you will learn to communicate at a simple, practical level and develop an understanding of basic grammatical structures and language patterns.

Later papers help reinforce the basic Spanish knowledge and skills. The focus is on the competent use of essential grammatical structures with an awareness of etiquette required in both formal and informal settings.

Students who complete the intermediate papers will be able to converse competently in variety of practical situations, including travel and business.

Papers

Any of these papers can be taken as electives as part of your degree. All papers will cover the language skills (speaking, listening, reading and writing) needed to understand and express oneself in a variety of every day situations.
