The Māori Development major in the Bachelor of Arts offers a sequence of study across three years that interweaves cultural, professional and vocational strands into aspects of Māori Development. You may choose to emphasise economic development, management and leadership, or topics in contemporary Māori culture and media. You can also support your chosen vocational emphasis with te reo Māori. As in other BA majors, generic core papers will emphasise the development of key capabilities in various forms of communication, research, teamwork and problem solving, along with relevant information technology skills.
WHAT THIS PROGRAMME COVERS
This major analyses and evaluates contemporary development concepts from a Māori world-view. Students will also develop a strong awareness of the cultural and social issues facing Aotearoa New Zealand. They are offered opportunities to develop and apply knowledge and skills required in the national workplace from a Màori perspective. Students will gain a foundation in tikangà and te reo Màori and an education in best practice development models.
