

Japan is one of the world’s leading economies. New Zealand’s need for Japanese speakers is greater than ever in order to build commercial links and develop markets with Japan. The Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in Japanese Language combines the study of Japanese language, society, culture and business etiquette with core papers that equip graduates with skills in communication, technology and research.
WHAT THIS PROGRAMME COVERS
Students achieve fluency in all areas of language required for daily communication, both in and out of the workplace. They also develop an awareness of cultural, social and business differences between New Zealand and Japan.
They will develop communications skills and learn about the Japanese language, Kanji and grammar.
CAREER OPPORTUNITIES
Graduates of the Japanese major are able to pursue a wide range of careers, including business, import and export, retail, hospitality, information technology, telecommunications, airlines, travel, tourism, translating, interpreting, consultancy, research, postgraduate study and teaching.
