• MA (Ling.) Macquarie University, Sydney, Australia
• B.Ed. (majored in TEFL and Applied Ling.) Institute of Education, Rangoon, Burma
• Certificate in Introduction to Translation and Interpreting, Auckland Institute of Technology, New Zealand.

Biography:

Prior to joining AUT in 1991, Alice worked as an English language materials development consultant for UNICEF, Ministry of Education, Republic of Maldives, and as a lecturer and teacher trainer in the English Department, Institute of Education and Rangoon Arts and Science University, Burma.

Since joining AUT, she has undertaken various academic and leadership roles within the School and has represented the University at many local, national and international conferences.

Teaching Areas:

• Postgraduate:  Language Analysis/General Linguistics (paper leader)
• Undergraduate: Introduction to Language Study (paper leader), Critical Language Studies, Introduction to Intercultural Competence, Introduction to Intercultural Competence in a Global World, Co-operative Education (academic supervisor).

• Developing and assessing  intercultural competence
• Group assessment at tertiary level
• Collaboration teaching among discipline and language teachers 
• Refugee resettlement programmes.
