The Certificate in Employment Skills English (Cert ESE) is designed for anyone who wants to improve their English skills to study or work in New Zealand.

The programme is specifically designed for:

  • Students who are learning English as another language.
  • Students who want to improve their English listening, speaking, reading and writing skills to work or study in NZ.

The Cert ESE provides a pathway into the Certificate in English Language (AK1237), which offers academic English courses at high-intermediate to advanced levels.

Entry requirements

In order to be admitted to the Certificate in Employment Skills English an applicant must have a language background other than English. Applicants will need to complete an English language proficiency test and an interview to determine suitability to undertake the course.
