About the Centre for Creative Writing

Founded in 2010, the AUT Centre for Creative Writing is a space for budding and established writers to meet, collaborate and connect. Based in the heart of Auckland’s Arts Precinct, its location is a reflection of what it aims to be – an avenue that embraces diversity and creativity.

All streams of creative writing are encouraged, including poetry, fiction, non-fiction, graphic novels, gaming narratives, online content and memoirs. A dedicated screenwriter’s hub exists for writers interested in developing scripts. This stream is led by Cannes award-winning filmmaker, Andrew Bancroft.

The centrepiece for the centre is the Master of Creative Writing, which has produced more than 100 graduates, with many of them now published authors. Find out more about the Master of Creative Writing
