Bachelor of Tourism Studies - Business
Kelly’s major in business saw her undertake her co-op with Tourmasters South Pacific Ltd, which improved both her personal and professional skills she says.
"On a personal level, entering a new organisation and surveying the public enhanced my social skills and confidence to conduct face to face survey research.
"Professionally, co-op also allowed me to enhance my critical thinking skills and apply university theories such as research methods to real life business practices within the tourism industry.
"I didn’t expect to hone both my professional and personal skills through the one exercise."
Starting in a tourism-focused organisation was made easier for Kelly due to the excellent overview of the entire tourism industry the degree gave her she believes.
"I particularly enjoyed majoring in business since I had the opportunity to study in a range of business subject areas within the tourism industry such as marketing and management.
"The lecturer’s direct one to one approach to teaching also enabled me to grasp concepts quickly and with ease."
