How long is the course

The course should take you approximately 16 weeks to complete, but we offer you the flexibility to take up to 6 months.

Short Course Overview

This course includes more than 20 multimedia presentations of up to 40 minutes each.  Online worksheets and multi-choice quizzes provide formative assessment and will help embed your learning.
  1. Cardiovascular anatomy and physiology.
    A three part revision of anatomy and physiology, cardiac muscle and cardiac haemodynamics.
  2. 3 Lead ECG Interpretation module
    An 8 part module covering wave formation, rhythm recognition and the 5-step method of 3 lead ECG interpretation.
  3. 12 lead ECG Interpretation module
    An 8 part module covering the history, layout and advantages of the 12 lead ECG and a 6 step method of interpretation that includes recognition of bundle branch blocks, hypertrophy, cardiac axis and ischaemia, injury and infarct.
  4. Acute Coronary Syndrome, STEMIs and STEMI mimics
    A 3-part, in-depth covering of these topics to increase your 12 lead ECG interpretation skills.
  5. Dysrhythmias
    This module looks at the pathology, consequences and long and short-term management of common brady and tachy dysrhythmias.
  6. Cardiac Conditions
    An introduction to congenital abnormalities, heart failure, electrolyte imbalances and digoxin toxicity are included in this module.  We also include a comprehensive course to help you learn heart sounds and recognise murmurs.
