Oral Health Undergraduate Courses

WHAT ARE ORAL HEALTH PRACTITIONERS

Oral health is more than care of the mouth and healthy teeth, it is critical to good health and wellbeing for people of all ages. Oral health practitioners provide dental treatment to children and adolescents up to the age of 18 including:

  • Risk assessment of patients teeth and gums
  • Preventative treatment to reduce future disease
  • Patient education of oral hygiene methods
  • Treatment of diseased teeth or teeth disorders
  • Extraction of teeth and management of patient trauma

We offer the following undergraduate course:

Bachelor of Health Science in Oral Health

We also offer the following pre-degree Dental Surgery Assisting Pathway course:

Certificate in Health Care Support


CAREER OPPORTUNITIES

Graduates of the Bachelor of Health Science in Oral Health will be skilled as both a dental hygienist and as a dental therapist, with the ability to work both in private or public health settings. As an oral health practitioner you can work with children and adolescents under 18 years of age, and with adults within your scope of practice. You may choose to work in a clinical practice (eg orthodontic, schools or hospital clinics) or in the area of health promotion.
