NURSING PRACTITIONERS OFFER NEW LEVEL OF CARE
A dual focus on health promotion and disease, and the ability to prescribe are two of the skills drawing patients to nurse practitioners as primary carers.
Nurse practitioners are the future of global healthcare as they are open to independent and collaborative practice, are able to complete comprehensive health histories and examinations, can prescribe medication, can diagnose and order tests and use these to plan care in partnership with patients. AUT offers an accredited clinical masters programme for Nurse Practitioners that includes advanced courses in science, assessment, diagnostic reasoning, pharmacotherapeutics and a prescribing practicum at a community or public hospital. The Nurse Practitioner is the extension of an already critical role in health.
Registered Nurses make up the largest percentage of healthcare workers around the world working in quite diverse roles. These roles range from nurse researchers to policymakers, legal consultants and educators to clinicians including nurse practitioners. Learn more about postgraduate study in Advanced Nursing Practice
