Work Placements

Clinical work based placements are core to the success of our Health Science programmes. Placement experiences are essential for professional education and for producing graduates and post graduates who holistically understand their role and how to apply research and training in practice.

Clinical placements: Student information

Placements are provided in a range of health, education and social service settings throughout New Zealand so you will get the opportunity to experience placements within different health areas. We have a strong emphasis on offering placements in Auckland, however some disciplines encourage placements throughout New Zealand to increase career opportunities, so you need to be prepared to travel and to meet your travel and accommodation costs while on placement (International placement is available for some degrees).

We want our students to develop and enhance transferrable skills and academic knowledge. Our co-op placement programme allows students to take a pro-active approach in real-life professional environments and make a positive contribution in an organisation. AUT encourages an interprofessional work placement model where students work collaboratively with other disciplines.

Clinical placements: Employer information

Do you have a project you don't have time to complete; need to bring in specialist knowledge; or want to future proof your business by employing the best graduates - a student placement could be the solution.

By offering a placement you get the opportunity to work with some of AUT University’s most enthusiastic, innovative and enterprising students before they start job hunting. A student will bring real benefits to your organisation. Students are keen to learn, are intelligent and offer you a different perspective within your organisation.
