

Midwifery is a health care profession which supports and cares for mothers and the birthing of their children. Midwives play an integral part in all stages of pregnancy and birth and provide:

Midwives work in the areas of pregnancy, childbirth and the first six weeks after childbirth. They can be employed in public hospital services, or set up practice as a self employed midwife in the community.
