Taupua Waiora, the Centre for Māori Health Research officially opened in February 2006 with the aim of improving Māori health and reducing inequalities of outcome between non-Māori and Māori. The Māori Health Research Centre's primary areas of research are Māori health promotion, Māori access to health services and Māori health workforce capacity building.
