AUT encourages early application. Applicants will normally be selected on the basis of their level of academic achievement and may be required to attend a selection interview.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

  • University Entrance
  • NCEA:
    • 14 credits at Level 3 in Mathematics with Calculus or Statistics and Modelling
    • 14 credits at Level 2 in Physics
  • CIE: A Level in Mathematics and a minimum of AS Level in Physics OR A Level in Physics and a minimum of AS Level in Mathematics.
The Bachelor of Engineering Technology is designed to give you a comprehensive set of skills for employment as an engineering technologist, and prepare you for membership of the Institution of Professional Engineers New Zealand (IPENZ). You will be given both the theoretical and practical skills necessary to solve engineering problems and design engineering systems. Communication skills for effective teamwork and the documentation and evaluation of systems will be developed alongside the ability to evaluate risks and assess the financial consequences of decisions.

MAJORS

WHAT THIS PROGRAMME COVERS

Computer and Mobile Systems; Electrical Engineering; Electronic Engineering and Network and Communication Engineering all come under the Electrical and Electronic Engineering field of the BEngTech. These four majors have a common programme structure as follows:

Year One
Your study will build the foundation of knowledge and skills required for your chosen major

Year Two
Your study will provide specialist knowledge relevant to your major

Year Three
You will undertake advanced study relating to your area of specialisation and complete a major project.
