Computer engineering deals with the design of computers and computer systems. This may involve the design of new hardware or supercomputers, or the use of computers to control an industrial plant. Computer engineers may also work on a system’s software. Desktop computers represent a tiny fraction of the devices a computer engineer might work on, as computer-like architectures are now found in a range of devices including video game consoles, DVD players and mobile systems.
The Computer and Mobile Systems Engineering major in the Bachelor of Engineering Technology (BEngTech) builds on your skills in development, operation and maintenance of software and hardware, and their application to mobile communications devices, embedded systems and networks.
Year 1 papers - 120 points in total
The Computer and Mobile Systems Engineering major shares some of the first year papers with the other majors in the Bachelor of Engineering Technology. Year 1 will provide you with essential program development skills in algebra and discrete mathematics, programming in C++ and Java for engineering applications, and object oriented applications.
