Master of Engineering

The Master of Engineering is a specialised research-only qualification. You generally link into one of the well established research centres within the school and are appointed an academic supervisor who monitors and directs your study for the duration of the course. The research may be across various subjects or subject-specific depending on what you choose.

The objective of the programme is to develop not only an excellent research graduate but also an individual who can integrate easily into the work environment and whom industry will actively seek.

AUT encourages early application. There are limited places available. Late applications will be accepted if the programme is not full. Applicants will normally be selected on the basis of their level of academic achievement and may be required to attend a selection interview.

Entry requirements

In order to be admitted to the Master of Engineering an applicant must have completed the following or equivalent: 

  • Guidelines to entry
  • PG1 Research Proposal
  • Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) or
  • Master of Engineering Studies or
  • Postgraduate Diploma in Engineering
  • Completion of an approved research methods paper may be required

You are to have an approved research proposal prior to commencement.
