Lulu WangMaster of Engineering
PhD in Engineering
After completing the Master of Engineering at AUT University, Lulu Wang chose to further her skill set with a PhD in Engineering. Focusing on interferometery and synthesis in radio astronomy, Lulu says while her research can be challenging, it has also been incredibly stimulating and rewarding.
“I always wanted my research to be applied in the breast cancer detection field, so I am very thankful that I had this project for my graduate research.
“I am really enjoying the freedom of PhD study. It’s giving me the opportunity to develop my independent research skills and full logical thinking, which are very important to me as I eventually want to be a professional researcher.”
Lulu says AUT University offers students independence to apply their own approaches and vision to their projects. “Supervisors and senior faculty members are always around to offer advice. I have benefited enormously from contact not only with my supervisor, but also with other academics in my field. There’s also a fabulous library at AUT – important when you are doing your research.
“AUT is a great place for academic work. As an added benefit, the university shuttle buses available Monday to Friday saves me time and transport fees. I really love it.”
