Hydrodynamic analyses - wave/structure interaction:
Determination of seakeeping characteristics and operational ranges for arbitrary vessels and structures by model testing as well as numerical methods (potential theory, CFD).

Wave forecast:
Development of methods for the forecast of uni- as well as multidirectional wave fields using surface elevation snapshots of the surrounding sea state gained by X-band radar.

Ship motion forecast:
Development of methods for the forecast of vessel motions using surface elevation snapshots of the surrounding sea state gained by X-band radar.

CFD – Computational Fluid Dynamics:
Simulation 3 dimensional multiphase flows in waves. Simulation of wave induced ship motions.

Investigation of oil spill cleanup at sea:
Development, optimization and analysis of the patented and awarded offshore oil recovery system SOS. Assessment of oil recovery efficiencies by model testing and specially developed RANSE-CFD methods. Construction, supervision and testing of a full scale SOS prototype.

Marine Renewable Energy:
Numerical investigation wave energy converters by CFD methods. Numerical and experimental analysis of the transport and installation process for offshore wind turbines.
