Bachelor of Education - Pasifika Early Childhood Teaching

There is a growing need for more qualified early childhood teachers with the skills and knowledge to be effective teachers to work with Pasifika children in their early childhood.

This specialty is designed for people of all backgrounds who have an interest in working with Pasifika children.

A range of papers, particularly in the third year of study, will equip students with Pasifika philosophies, languages and programme planning, assessment and evaluation.

Entry requirements

  • University Entrance
  • Interview, police clearance, references and CV
  • Must meet New Zealand Teachers Council requirements

Career opportunities

  • Graduates will be eligible to apply for provisional teacher registration
  • Member of teaching team in a diverse range or early childhood education settingsk but particularly Pasifika centres
  • Management of a Pasifika or other early childhood education centre

In support of the Treaty of Waitangi, AUT offers Nil Fee Te Reo Māori papers that can be taken as part of a Bachelor of Education at AUT.
