The Bachelor of Science is a flexible degree. The majors have been developed to provide students with a wide range of options, all of which lead to specific career opportunities. For each major we recommend courses of study that include appropriate optional papers (minor options) to enhance your employment prospects. Many students choose to study part time in their final year so that they can gain valuable work experience.

Majors

These are:

*These majors are run through the School of Applied Science.

If you wish to study a broader range of subjects, and do not which to complete the degree with a specific major, you can choose to complete the Bachelor of Science with no major.

Additional Majors and/or Minors

Students undertaking the Bachelor of Science may choose a second major either from those available within their degree (double major) or from the list of additional majors available from outside their degree. Minors are also available in these subjects. The availability of additional majors and minors will depend on timetabling and subject restrictions, and in some cases, choosing an additional major or minor may require students to undertake extra points to complete their degree.

What this Qualification Covers

Year One
You will undertake papers in algebra, calculus, computer organisation, applied statistics, probability, introductory astronomy, physics and introductory java programming.

You start the first-year Java courses by learning how to programme cellphones. These first year papers are technology focussed, have many modelling applications in industry, provide an overall quantitative focus, provide tools for ‘evidence based’ decision-making and support and enhance learning in many disciplines.

Years Two and Three
For an outline of the papers and subject matter covered in the second and third year of this degree please refer to the individual major pages.
