Information Systems Science major: Bachelor of Computer and Information Sciences

The Information Systems Science major develops the skills needed for the acquisition, representation and processing of knowledge-based solutions. Students who specialise in Information Systems Science will:

  • Be able to devise effective and efficient solutions for information processing, generation and delivery.
  • Understand information systems and their application in particular domains
  • Have an understanding of the technical aspects of database and programming for information retrieval and presentation.

WHAT THIS MAJOR COVERS
Students will learn the theory and science behind the management and use of information, including information architecture, information modelling, data mining, knowledge engineering, and database design.

PAPERS
Most papers last one semester and are worth 15 points. You must complete 120 points each year (360 points for the entire degree). In each year you will study core (compulsory) papers, and select other papers from a range of options.
