Luke Ryan
Bachelor of Computer and Information Sciences (BCIS)
Having had an interest in computers and technology from a young age, Luke Ryan enrolled in the Bachelor of Computer and Information Sciences (BCIS) simply because it sounded fascinating. With a major in IT Security, Luke found his project-based experience at AUT instrumental in securing him a job with software company Intergen.
“I enjoyed the group project work and interactions with other students and lecturers at AUT. Specifically I liked the programming and database papers. I liked that the degree allowed for flexibility e.g. I took a Photoshop design paper as an elective.
The final year project was definitely a highlight. Working with a client from industry in the financial sector was both interesting and invaluable experience. I put to use all of the skills I had learned about software and projects and gained a heap more that can't be taught in the classroom.”
