ASB

ASB's annual Project Management Intern Award was set up in 2011, marking the partnership of ASB with the School of Computing and Mathematical Sciences internship programme.
The inaugural winner, Yan Li, spent 3 months in the project delivery team working on the Future Workspace project. The purpose of this internship is to give students the opportunity to work in a “real project environment”, working closely with a project team, and gaining valuable insights into all aspects of project management.
Here are some comments from Yan about his experience at ASB: “It has been a great pleasure to join ASB’s project delivery team as an intern for the last 3 months. Being involved in the FWS project gave me the opportunity to put my study and my skills into practice and to further sharpen these skills. I will be able to take this experience back with me to AUT and with me on any future projects that I may work on. Thank you again for this opportunity.”

Statistics New Zealand

“Statistics New Zealand’s goal is an informed society using official statistics. The relationship we have with AUT makes strides towards this goal and is of huge value.
“The course offered by AUT, Public Sector Decision Making with Official Data, is one tangible example of our organisations working together to raise awareness of the value of official statistics. Together, we are working to raise the understanding and use of official statistics so that government social and economic policy groups are able to underpin their advice with sound analysis.
“AUT graduates, including recipients of the Statistics New Zealand Undergraduate Prize, are now playing an integral role in our work programmes, utilising their statistical excellence and demonstrating integrity and confidence as they raise awareness of official statistics
in the many areas they go on to work in. This is invaluable for the Official Statistics System, and invaluable to New Zealand.”
Andrew Hunter, Deputy Government Statistician,
Statistics New Zealand
