22 students from across New Zealand, aged 13 to 18, participated in the annual summer camp. The students were divided into 3 streams — Junior, Intermediate, and Senior. Junior camp was for those learning C/C++ and elementary algorithms while Intermediate camp concentrated on Graph theory, Geometrical concepts, Dynamic Programming, and other basic Computer Science techniques. The senior students spent the week being exposed to advanced techniques and lots of hard problems. The Junior class was joined by 3 high school teachers keen to up-skill for the coming changes in NCEA Computing.
During the camp, a number of selection contests were held. From those results, the team of 4 to represent New Zealand in July at the International Olympiad in Informatics, Pattaya, Thailand will be chosen. In 2010 three of the four team members won bronze medals. The organisers are hopeful of an even better outcome this year.
