Creative Industries Major: Bachelor of Communication Studies

The creative industries have always been culturally important. Now, at the beginning of the 21st century, as economic and social emphasis moves towards the knowledge economy, the creative industries are seen as crucial to national development. The sector needs skilled people who are able to drive the delivery of creative ideas from the drawing board to the marketplace.

The Creative Industries major in the Bachelor of Communication Studies degree (BCS) is about management in the creative sector, the organisation of creative workers and creative projects, and working with teams on the production of cultural goods and services.

  • Offers a strongly academic approach to understanding cultural policy and its place in everyday life
  • A new academic area full of rich opportunities for research
  • Focus on the behavioural side of management in the creative sector, project management and the dynamic area of cultural policy analysis
  • Develop the ability to prepare management plans and design and implement campaigns, projects and events from goals and strategies to budgets and logistics
  • Graduates are equipped with communication management skills and professional capabilities to enter the workforce as administrators of the arts and creative industries, such as advertising, public relations, cinema, television, cultural tourism and publishing
