Research Committee

Roles and Responsibilities

The Faculty of Business Research Committee assists with the strategic and operational development of and support for research within the Faculty. In doing so, it is a key driver in keeping with, informing and proactively supporting the wider strategic directions and responsibilities of the Faculty and University as a whole.

The Committee has a number of core functions, including:

  • To assist in the development and enhancement of a Faculty-wide research culture
  • To review, assess and decide upon applications to the Faculty's contestable research fund from Faculty colleagues seeking financial support for national and international conference attendances, research projects and proposals for Visiting Research Fellows (subject to the Associate Dean Research’s support and the Dean of Faculty’s ultimate approval)
  • To promote the publication of research in high quality, peer-reviewed outlets
  • To promote the generation of external research funds for the benefit of the Faculty and University
  • To promote and support the development and maintenance of Faculty based research centres
  • To monitor, review and assess research and scholarly activities within the Faculty of Business
  • To provide input into the development of Faculty research strategies
  • To guide, inform, monitor and support, without prejudice, the research activities in the Faculty’s discipline groupings, each of which is guided by a Faculty appointed Discipline Chair. Each Discipline Chair also serves as a member of the Faculty Research Committee.
