Biography
Dr Scott Fargher is a Senior Lecturer in Economics at the AUT. Scott’s research focuses primarily on Labour Economics, Economic Development and Public Policy. He recently co-authored the third edition of the text Macroeconomics and the Contemporary New Zealand Economy, with Susan St John, and teaches across a range of business related courses at AUT and for the Institute for Public Policy. These include: Institutions Markets and Policy, Business and the Macroeconomic Environment, the Economics of Strategy and Economic Development. Work with the Institute of Public Policy also involves collaborative research projects including analysis of the labour market and various economic growth initiatives across New Zealand.
Prior to joining AUT Scott completed a PhD at Edinburgh University which focused on the economic evaluation of youth training programmes in Scotland. He also holds an MSc from Glasgow University together with BA and MA (hons) degrees from Auckland University where he taught before joining the Scottish Doctoral Programme in Economics. Part of his time at Edinburgh was as the New Zealand Insurance/General Accident Waitangi Foundation Exchange Scholar to Edinburgh University.
