Director:
Professor Felix B Tan (MIS@AUT Group Leader)

Felix B Tan is Professor of Information Systems and Head, School of Computer and Information Sciences at Auckland University of Technology, New Zealand. He serves as the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Global Information Management. He is also the Vice President of Research for the Information Resources Management Association, the Editor of the ISWorld Net's EndNote Resources page, and is the Region 3 (Asia Pacific) Council for the Association for Information Systems. He has held visiting positions with the Department of Information Systems, National University of Singapore and Richard Ivey School of Business, The University of Western Ontario.

Dr. Tan is internationally known for his work in the global IT field and is a frequent guest speaker at international conferences. Dr. Tan's current research interests are in electronic commerce, global information management, business-IT alignment, and the management of IT. He is actively using cognitive mapping and narrative inquiry methods in his research. Dr. Tan has published in MIS Quarterly, Information & Management, Journal of Global Information Management, Journal of Information Technology as well as other journals and refereed conference proceedings. He has also published four books in the global IT field and is Editor of the book series "Advanced Topics in Global Information Management". Dr. Tan has over 20 years experience in information systems management and consulting with large multinationals, as well as University teaching and research in Singapore, Canada and New Zealand.

Professor Bill Doolin (eBusiness@AUT Group Leader)

Bill Doolin joined Auckland University of Technology in 2002 as the Microsoft Professor of eBusiness. Based in the University's Faculty of Business, Bill plays a senior role in coordinating teaching and research in this area. Prior to this, he taught a variety of subjects at the Management Schools of Waikato University and Lancaster University (UK). His research focuses on the processes that shape the use and adoption of information technologies in organisations. Lately this has included work on electronic commerce technologies, applications and strategies.

Dr. Phil Carter (Usability Research Group Leader)

Philip Carter first started working with computers in 1981 for Commercial Data Processing in Wellington. In 1994 he gained a First Class Honours degree in Computer Science from Massey University. In 1998 he completed a PhD focusing on psychodrama and knowledge elicitation. In 2002 he became a certified psychodramatist. He is leader of the Usability Research Group.

Philip brings the sensibilities of dramatic production and group work to the world of ICT. He is fascinated by the processes of knowledge and creativity and what characteristics and affordances 'working surfaces' have in assisting these processes. Human 'experience' appears to be a common thread which runs through the different work and research he is involved in. He is currently building up experience of being a writer.

Dr. Brian Cusack (Network and Security Group Leader)

Brian Cusack has a long-standing interest in computing that dates back to 1968 when he first began programming in Fortran 60. He has taught & lectured in mathematics, computer science, and electronic engineering at MIT, AIT, and AUT since 1991. He completed his Ph.D. in analysis in 1992 and continues his interest in system analysis. His current publications focus on theory building for system knowledge, performance, security and development. He is also the Editor of The International Principal, and facilitator of the NACCQ post-graduate research symposium.
