Research Summary:

Dr. Ann Kerwin, who joined AUT in 2004, teaches Ethics papers in the Centre for Business Interdisciplinary Studies.  In 1977 she joined the University of Arizona (U.S.A.) with a joint appointment in Women’s Studies and Philosophy.  In 1983 she moved to the medical faculty as Philosopher-in-Residence of the College of Medicine, a position she held until 2000.  With innovative colleagues, Dr. Kerwin pioneered a curriculum on Medical Ignorance which garnered major competitive grants from the National Institutes of Health and other  major U.S. foundations.  She was an Eisenhower Mathematics and Science Fellow and consulted for UNESCO and the World Health Organisation on innovative inquiry-based international programmes.  Since moving to AUT, she teaches Ethics papers, writes primarily for educational audiences and speaks about Philosophy in a regular series on Radio New Zealand National.
