Research Summary:
Ying’s research interest started with the importance of microeconomic foundations in analysing macroeconomic issues. She completed her PhD thesis on the long-run implications of imperfect competition in 2008 from Monash University. By providing a micro-macroeconomic analysis with elements of general equilibrium, she investigated the long-run fluctuations of aggregate output and general price level in response to exogenous disturbance, in the presence of market imperfections.
Since then her main areas of research interest have been microeconomic theory and policy. She has recently undertaken research to study the behaviour of the firm, with a focus on the firm’s entry/exit decision and R&D strategy.
Current Research Projects:
- Cross-sectoral Effects of Entry and Exit of Firms
- Determinants and Patterns of Entry and Exit
- Absorptive Capacity and R&D Cooperation
