Our MBA graduates provide inspired leadership from a multidisciplinary perspective in business, coupled with an assertive and principled approach to quality in their practice as professionals.


MBA PROGRAMME LEARNING GOALS

The MBA Learning Goals outline the broad expectations of what MBA graduates will have achieved over the course of their degree study. On-going development of each of the Learning Goals is assessed throughout the programme.

These are:

MBA GRADUATE SKILLS

Graduates of the MBA qualification will be equipped with:

Functional Management Knowledge
The skills needed to lead and manage organisations in a global business environment, combined with the ability to change organisations through effective leadership.

Strategic Implementation
The ability to analyse and formulate what they are evaluating in an environment that requires quick, focused and considered responses to business problems.

Multidisciplinary Perspectives
Knowledge in the fields of accounting, business economics, entrepreneurship, finance, human resources management, information technology, law, leadership, marketing, operations management and strategy, organisational behaviour, and the way they interact with each other.

Appreciation of the Domestic Environment
A deep and well-rounded understanding of the New Zealand business environment and the place of small to medium business enterprises within this economy.

Communication, Team Work and Partnering
The ability to communicate, negotiate and build relationships.

Leadership and Motivation
Understand and apply principles of control, empowerment and motivation.

Decision-Making and Problem Solving
Development of a structured approach to problem solving and of creative and lateral thinking to develop solutions.

Technological Literacy
Understand and use information technology and applications in strategy and planning.

Business Literacy
An understanding of strategy, planning, managing operations and people, marketing, financial reports, financial planning processes and decision-making.

Critical Reflection
An ability to critically reflect on their own thinking and action; and assess strengths and weaknesses to stimulate their own learning and development.

Ethical Awareness
Understanding ethical issues and making ethical decisions.

International Outlook
Understand the international context in which a business operates and develop awareness of current issues affecting the economy and business.
