Matai Aronui 2MĀTAI ARONUI - OUR GIFTED NAME

On Friday, 21 November 2008 was a day that served to remind us of the richness of our communities and the day that the AUT Buisness School received its gifted name called - Te Whare o te Mātai Aronuia place of significant study and inquiry, where we will advance and grow.

The day brought together the people who give meaning to the Business School building with the purpose to gift the name Mātai Aronui.

The distinguished speakers Takutai Wikiriwhi and Tame TeRangi who represented Ngati Whatua re-established our relationship with the land and people of Tamaki Makarau.

To acknowledge the importance of the place of Māori a response in Te Reo Māori was given by the Dean Des Graydon followed by the unveiling of the plaque by Jenny Bygrave and Roger Stokell.

He aha te mea nui
He aha te mea nui o te ao
Maku e ki atu
He tangata, he tangata, he tangata

What is the most important thing?
I will say that the most important thing,
it is people, it is people, it is people
