ÆFFECT and Just One? — Spatial Design End-of-Year Exhibition 2009
Opening: Saturday 21st from 5-7pm November
Open Days: Sunday 22nd, Tuesday 24th and Wednesday 25th of November from 10am-5pm.
Across passion and response ÆFFECT exhibits an inimitable encounter from eight graduating students within the Spatial Design and Off-Campus strands of the Master of Art and Design. Each in their own singular way open an æffective encounter onto critical and conceptual questions of emerging spatial practices. These practices operate at the intersection, or within the borders of performance and installation production across the field of art and design. ÆFFECT is the outcome of two years research study for each of the eight students, whose final work is on display in the ST PAUL St galleries One and Two and progresses through floors 2, 3 & 4 of the (WM) Art & Design building.
ÆFFECT is a two-fold event concurrently aligned with the Just One? Spatial Design exhibition that incorporates exhibits from Spatial Design students undertaking both postgraduate and undergraduate studies. Just One? can be imagined as a spatial fold, which focuses on emerging spatial practices operating at the junction of architecture, design and emerging technologies. These Spatial exhibits include work from our Bachelor of Design (Spatial), Bachelor of Art and Design Honours (Spatial Design) and the Master of Art and Design housed within the Spatial Design WW Building at 9 Mount Street.
ÆFFECT and Just One? together contain an end-of-year exhibition by over 120 students whose work ranges across performance, time-based/moving image, installation practice, sound, gaming, interior architecture, building design, scenography, furniture, object and event design.
