IM FOKUS
Talk by Barbara Honrath at ST PAUL ST
Barbara Honrath, art historian and head of Visual Arts at the Goethe Institut in Munich, will give a talk about Art Photography in Germany today.
Wednesday, March 26, 3 p.m.
Gallery One
Since years photography is riding on the crest of the wave of the artmarket with works from star photographers like Andreas Gursky attaining record prices. In Germany the medium seems to find a particularly fertile ground. Photography training in postwar Germany has thrived on what proved frutiful competition between East and West. Düsseldorf, with the famous Becher School, and Leipzig became centres of worldwide reputation.
Barbara Honrath will present an illustrated talk about the contemporary photography scene by discussing works by practitioners, the different centres and schools and private and public collections.
Free Admission. All welcome
This event is made possible with the generous support of the Goethe-Institut.
