LEGEND

Monique Redmond - Simon McIntyre

October 23 - November 17, 2007

Gallery Two

Legend observes the site of our everyday. Installed as a room full of artefacts, it seeks by proxy to construct documentaries of places past, signs noticed unnoticed, and sites seen unsee in daily activity. A citation of local settings and patterns of travel. The artefacts [informants] of Legend use the serial portrait to documents the non-events of everyday time zones, locatable nowhere except between intention and destination. These documents repeat and recite the transitory nature of daily occurence; they are transmissions, witness to the sites of Mapped.

The site of Legend is not fixed by specificity of place - it is defined by the events of our everyday. This is explicated in the use of object and image as legend to other. In placing the legend in the dual role of explanation and key to everyday acts and movements, Legend puports a self-referential interplay, cognizant of the sites of Mapped in the form of a reportorial of everyday fact. As artefacts, image and object reference previous acts, and in real time perform as keys to neighborhoods beyond.
