For this exhibition at St Paul St gallery both artists will explore the felling areas around Auckland and will bring into the gallery one single pine tree. The log will be sitting on the gallery floor alongside with some furniture, which will be designed and built during the artists' residency in Auckland.
As it is typical for both artists their exhibition owns the quality of a certain absurd humour, which allows reconsidering certain aspects of our economy. The disproportion of efforts and the resulting exhibition puts in question the economical categories like effectiveness, cost saving and high productive output.
The exhibition is a collaboration between Unitec School of Design, the British Council and the Massey University of Wellington. A book will be published after the exhibition, with a contribution by former gallery director Heather Galbraith, who has initiated the project.
