Learning Environment

Fostering creativity is a key aspect of all our Art and Design study options and ST PAUL St Gallery is an integral part of this, presenting preeminent national and international art and design in the heart of the school.

ST PAUL St Gallery runs an extensive program of exhibitions, screenings, performances and events from New Zealand and international artists, through this fostering our research culture and introducing cutting edge practices to the students, staff and wider public. The gallery is only steps away from the studios, workshops and seminar rooms, creating an immediate connection between the students and the professional world of creativity.

The gallery also functions as a teaching space. Its Symonds St site includes short projects from Art and Design students in its programme as well as being home to the PILOT project.

The gallery director and curator is Dr Leonhard Emmerling. He is supported by a professional team of technical and administrative staff.
