English language studies

If you don’t meet the English language requirements for direct entry into an AUT programme, AUT’s School of Languages in the Faculty of Applied Humanities offers three English for Academic Study preparation programmes. These programmes provide a solid background in the language skills, research processes and critical thinking required for academic study in a New Zealand university. These programmes range from one semester to two years and you can build from certificate to diploma to degree.

The programmes are:

  • Diploma in English Language
  • Certificate in English for Academic Study
  • Certificate in Academic English

To learn more, see the School of Languages pre-degree courses.

You can also enrol in one of the English programmes taught through AUT International House.

AUT International House (AUTIH)

AUT International House is the English language school for international students at AUT University. AUTIH is located in the heart of central Auckland close to the main AUT campus and is a modern, spacious school with the latest technological equipment. As an AUTIH student, you’ll have an AUT ID card for use of all AUT facilities including the Library, the Learning Development Centre, medical centre and sports facilities.
