Journey to University Success for AUT Chinese Speaking Students 

To equip you with the practical skills and confidence needed to successfully tackle your study at university, AUT Chinese Centre will organise a tailor-made 1 day Journey to University Success Programme for all Chinese speaking students. 

Date: Friday 14 July 2017
Time: 9:00am - 4:00pm
Venue: WE240, City Campus 
 

It covers:

  • Key academic expectations including AUT policies and regulations
  • Practical study methods and survival strategies for university success
  • Essential computer and library search skills including AUT online and  Arion
  • Key facilities and student services at university and in the community
  • Learning support and social activities for Chinese speaking students
  • Meeting and interacting with student peers from the same programme
  • Essay writing and APA referencing skills
  • Academic writing context at AUT
  • Key features of an essay
  • Key stages in the writing process
  • Applying effective strategies when analyzing assignment questions
  • Key components of a well written paragraph
  • The purposes of referencing
  • APA referencing
  • Applying APA referencing conventions

This programme will help you achieve better grades.

Chinese Peer Mentor

•    Senior Chinese students who provide specialised tutorials or one-to-one sessions on specific subject areas - for example accounting, statistics and finance
•    Have specific subject knowledge to assist students with specific questions about a subject area
