Tuition fees for domestic undergraduate students

The tuition fee for a year of full-time study varies depending on your course of study and the combination of papers you study within your qualification. Your exact fees will be calculated at the time of invoicing.

The following provides an estimate for the range of costs associated with fulltime study, based on estimates from the paper selection of previous student enrolments within each qualification.

Approximate 2018 undergraduate fees

  • Typical fees range: $6,000 (GST incl) to $6,778 (GST incl) for 120 points

Some courses may exceed this range due to the additional costs associated with the specialist equipment, resources and delivery of tuition for some papers, including:

  • Bachelor of Health Science in Oral Health ($6,450 - $9,959)
  • Bachelor of Health Science in Paramedicine ($6,450 - $7,074)
  • Bachelor of Health Science in Podiatry ($6,450 – 6,998)
  • Bachelor of Sport and Recreation ($6,000 - $8,565)

Note: Part-time students pay a proportion of the full-time fee

Other fees

2018 Compulsory Student Services Fee - $627.10 for 120 points or $5.23 per academic point (GST incl)

2018 Building Levy - $69.60 for 120 points or $0.58 per academic point (GST incl)

Distance learning students and exchange students are exempt from these fees because they don't use the campus services and facilities. Distance learning means that the teaching department has confirmed that no portion of the paper is taught on campus.

Other students who wish to apply for an exemption to the fee may apply in writing to the Group Director Student Services and Administration at ssa@aut.ac.nz

Please note:
Some individual papers may also charge additional fees for materials, equipment or field trips where applicable. If there is a charge it will be shown on your invoice. Please check with your faculty/department if there are additional fees for your programme of study.
