Vice-chancellor's Doctoral scholarships: applications are open for 2011

Applications are now open for the Vice-chancellor's Doctoral scholarships. These are for 3 years and each scholarship is worth approximately $96,000. Applications close Friday 23 September 2011 at 4.30pm.

What does each scholarship include?

Each scholarship includes provision for tuition fees plus a yearly stipend of $25,000 for three years to fund the recipient’s research at AUT University. The total value of each scholarship is worth approximately $96,000.

Who can apply?

  • Those who meet the admission criteria for a doctoral programme. Click here to see this criteria for a doctoral programme
  • Applicants who have a relevant masters degree or a bachelors (honours) degree with first or second class (first division) honours.
  • Previous study should include research methodologies papers and an independent research project, including the writing of a report on that research

Preference will be given to new applicants to the PhD programme.

Applicants for whom English is a second language must have an IELTS (Academic) score of 6.5 overall, no band less than 6.0 and normally with 7.0 in Writing

How do I apply?

There are three parts to the application process. You must 1) register your interest for this scholarship, 2) apply for this scholarship AND 3) submit your doctoral application. All three parts must be completed for your application to be considered.

  • Register your interest very soon by completing the online form
  • Submission of the completed online form will be directed to the faculty with which you wish to study. However, it is still important that you contact the Faculty Postgraduate Office where you intend to study to discuss your PhD application if you have not already done so.
